In the monthly meeting on Tuesday in Asharqia Chamber
Director
General of Water in the Eastern Province Amer bin Ali Al Mutairi urged the
business community to interact with the ministry plans in the privatization of
the water sector and opening the door for investment for investors to implement
new and vital projects in collaboration with the public sector.
Al
Mutairi said in the Monthly meeting on Tuesday in Asharqia Chamber, held
the evening of Tuesday, November 1, 2016 in the presence of Chairman of the
Board of Directors of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Saleh Al Ataishan and member
of the Board of Directors Abdul Hakem bin Hamad Al Amar and general secretary
of the Chamber Abdulrahman bin Abdullah Al Wabel that the Directorate of
Water in the region is open to the private sector, noting that it
was able to attract many of the qualifications and new technologies that made a
big difference and improvement in performance of the Directorate.
Al
Mutairi said in the meeting that witnessed a remarkable
presence of businessmen and those interested, that the Directorate manages it
self at the moment, adding that after the completion of its privatization in
the future it will be give some of its work to the private sector with partial
preservation of some of the operating and maintenance works, and this would
bring progress in the level of performance and service provided to the people
of the region.
As
for the projects of the ministry Al Mutairi said that there are 136 valid projects,
and 20 delayed projects have been cancelled, saying..we are talking to each in
the Directorate in a realistic way and welcome any criticism that might
show us any defect to fix it.
As
of that ministry plans of the expansion of the national water company it may
include 16 cities, of the company services in the Kingdom, pointing that the
ministry target in the coming period for the privatization, 56 city in the Kingdom in general, 6 cities in
the eastern region have been put on the list of implementation, in the first stage are: Al Khobar, Dammam, Safwa,
Sihat, Qatif and Jubail, followed next by Al Ahsa and other provinces.
Regarding the water challenges in
the suburb of King Fahd in Dammam Mutairi said that the suburb is one of the
first initiatives that received a great support from the ministry to implement
the project of water treatment and the establishment of networks in it, noting that the funding is what the
ministry keen for currently in
collaboration with the private sector, adding that the ministry is working this
period to provide approvals for the implementation of the projects in the
suburb.
Al
Mutairi said that the ministry is witnessing continuous and intensive workshops
and meetings to obtain goals and discussing the conditions of cities with
regard to water and reviewing the challenges and study the proper solutions so
that the beneficiary can get services without any complexity.
Al
Mutairi said that the company is seeking to raise the level of water and
sanitation services to all the provinces
of the region and its centers and villages, to serve people in the region.
At
